Flowers for the city. Flowers for you.
Experience matters.
Jay Flowers has served Thomasville's citizens for many years as a business owner, city council member and as the Mayor. Through the years Flowers has served on many community boards and was a long term leader of Boy Scout Troop 306. He is an officer in the First Presbyterian Church of Thomasville and is Chairman of the Payroll Development Authority. Flowers is currently serving on the Georgia Municipal Association Board of Directors and is President of the GMA District 10 development board. Running a city isn't easy and we have so much to be proud of. Jay considers all groups of citizens when guiding the city staff and understands how our local government really works. Thomasville is a $138 million business, managing the budget to ensuring our all our utilities run smoothly is responsibility of the City Manager and his staff, giving community insight and direction is the role of the Council.
Real world experience matters.
Even though Jay has served for years on Thomasville's City Council, he's not a career politician—actually, he owns and runs his own business, Core Rewards, right here in Thomasville. Jay knows what it's like to build a life here, make payroll, and build your business. He knows how policies impact business owners and families.
“I know that our long term viability and success is dependent on good jobs in a safe environment. The primary role of city government is to provide that safe place where our citizens can thrive……..then get out of the way.”
Loving Thomasville matters.
Jay believes this town we share is an amazing place. It takes every member of the community caring to make it what it is. That's why Jay believes in being available and listening to your concerns. He's here to meet your needs and represent your concerns. Because when we all love Thomasville, it can only get better.
“My goal is to keep Thomasville on this great path toward smart growth, long term financial health and to continue to be the great place we love. Our history gives us perspective, embracing modern technology and amenities keeps us viable. My real goal is to get my 3 boys to move back here to raise their families.”
A Personal Message
"Like our beloved Big Oak, we have deep roots here and hold close to the earth. Like the leaves of this tree, every member of our community has a role to play. I'm Jay Flowers and I'm proud to be your mayor! I will work my hardest to continue listening to you, serving you and loving this place we call home."
